The Fantasia International Film Festival is taking over Montreal once again! Celebrating its 29th year with an extremely impressive lineup of films from all over the world, this year is poised to be their best yet. With the festival kicking off July 16th and concluding August 3rd, we here at Straight Chilling eagerly anticipate covering the festival remotely once again. With over 200 films included in this year’s program, we wanted to highlight a handful we’re most excited to see.

It Ends - Alexander Ullom
Four friends who recently graduated from college are excited to begin their careers. Unfortunately, they find themselves stuck on a stretch of road they can’t wait to get off. They’re forced to put their lives on hold and navigate existential terrors in this tightly written thriller.

Queens of the Dead - Tina Romero
Tina Romero, daughter of George A. Romero puts her own comedic spin on the zombie sub-genre. In Queens of the Dead, The dead come alive during a Brooklyn drag show and the Queens must put aside their personal differences to fight the undead!

Good Boy - Ben Leonberg
Ever seen a haunted house movie shot entirely from a dog’s perspective? Of course you haven’t! In Good Boy, a dog moves back to an old family home with his owner and becomes aware of sinister things lurking in the house. Will he be able to save his master? Tune in and find out!

The Golem - Sierra Nutkevitch
Set in 1840’s Poland, a Jewish woman caring for the town leper creates a folkloric monster out of clay to help protect her. The story of the Golem is evergreen and we can’t wait to see Nutkevitch’s take on this ancient monster.

Touch Me - Addison Heimann
The comedic tale of a narcissistic alien who may or may not be trying to take over the world. Throw in two codependent friends who become addicted to the very touch of the alien and what could go wrong? Guaranteed to have some shocks, great science fiction moments and maybe even some alien copulation.
